Choose God
The peaceful revolution thirty-six years ago was the culmination of a struggle against tyranny and oppression which saw our economy in shambles, many rural barangays influenced by the communists as the government institutions buckled under the weight of greed and corruption. Political violence ruled the day. There seemed to be no hope until the people turned to God.
The people decided, enough was enough, “sobra na, tama na”, and heeded the call of the late Jaime Cardinal Sin, then Archbishop of Manila, to take to the streets to avert violence. True enough, tanks were suddenly confronted by a sea of people with nothing but rosaries and prayers on their lips. It is no accident that the event was called the Miracle of EDSA.
Today, the call to turn towards God coupled with the mending of our ways must be rekindled, for the forces of evil always lurk at the door of our hearts. The fleeting worldly values of wealth, honor, power, and glory as an end will always threaten to supplant the values of the Kingdom. History tells us that the turning-away from God results in the despicable degradation of human dignity. Man becomes blind and weak. Excess and perversion overcome him, making him a slave. Thus, we tremble for the day when we will be in this state again.
We firmly believe that a people sincerely turning towards God in prayer, and mending its ways in the light of the Kingdom will find freedom in the loving arms of God who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Choose God!
