Spiritual Pilgrimage Ride
I’ve been searching for the meaning of the word “PILGRIMAGE”, although the word is not foreign to me, but I just realized lately that I only had its synonym – “A JOURNEY”. Of all that I’ve read this classical meaning struck me – A pilgrimage is a journey, often into an unknown or foreign place, where a person goes in search of new or expanded meaning about themselves, others, nature, or a higher good, through the experience. It can lead to a personal transformation, after which the pilgrim returns to their daily life.
When the 500 Years of Christianity was launched, we were encouraged to partake into a Spiritual Pilgrimage – a journey with religious dimension in which we can avail of a precious gift of gaining indulgence.
Last December 4 and 8, 2021, on the occasion of the culmination of the Year of St. Joseph we organized a Holy Journey with a campaign title “St. Joseph’s Spiritual Pilgrimage Ride”.
The First Ride on December 4, 2021, the pilgrims of almost 400 went to St. Joseph Parish – Pantukan where we entered the Holy Door. Then we drove to Christ the King Cathedral – Tagum where we also entered the Holy Door.
The second ride on December 8, 2021 the pilgrims of more than 500 went to Mary Mediatrix of all Graces Cathedral – Digos City and whose pilgrims were blessed to attend the Mass presided by Bishop Jimmy Afable, D.D. Then we went to St. Joseph Parish – Sta Cruz, Davao del Sur where we entered the Holy Door.
That Holy Journey brought forth wonderful experience and blessings to those who embarked on it. (Dennis Mabayao)
