New Parish of San Pedro Poveda Established
By the grace of God, the fruit of prayers and perseverance has now been realized. The birth of a parish manifests the growth of Christian faith. This signifies of being a Church – the people of God journeying together with the Lord.
Last December 3, 2021 at 9:00 o’clock in the morning on the occasion of the Feast of St. Francis Xavier, was the Canonical Establishment of San Pedro Poveda Parish, the 40th parish in the Archdiocese of Davao and the Installation of the First Parish Priest, the Rev. Fr. Elneri B. Meñez.
The solemn celebration was presided by the Most. Rev. Romulo G. Valles, DD, Archbishop of Davao with the concelebration of some Davao clergy.
The newly established parish was formerly part of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Mintal. It was located at Km. 11 Davao-Bukidnon Highway, Brgy. Catalunan Pequeño, Davao City. Currently, it comprises 21 active Gagmayng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKKs), to wit:
- Christ the King – Purok 24 Samulco Village
- Sta. Cruz – Purok 9 Sitio Cawa-Cawa
- St. Joseph the Worker – Purok 17 Samantha Homes
- St. Padre Pio – Purok 19 Wellspring Highlands
- Our Lady of Fatima – Purok 14 Well spring 1
- Inahan sa Kanunayng Panabang – Purok 12
- Sto. Nino – Purok 2 Crossing Pequeño
- San Antonio de Padua – Purok 1 Km 13
- Birhen sa Manaoag – Purok 25 Residencia del Rio
- San Isidro Labrador – Purok 10 Sitio Walog
- San Vicente Ferrer – Purok 16 Wellspring 3
- Our Lady of the Holy Rosary – Purok 6 Greenhills Subd.
- La Purisima – Purok 13, Pag-ibig Country Homes
- San Jose Mamumuo – Purok 15 Wellspring 2

The peripheral boundaries of the newly established parish are Immaculate Conception Parish, Mintal in the Northwestern side, San Isidro Labrador Parish, Catalunan Grande in the East and San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish in the Southwestern portion.
