Synod on Synodality Lauched: Intervention of the Holy Spirit needed

The Archdiocese of Davao formally opened the Synod together with the Local Churches of Davao on October 17, 2021 with a theme: “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, Mission”.

In line with this, the St. Mary of the Perpetual Rosary Parish in Buhangin had a launching of Synod on Synodality with the Eucharistic Celebration at 6:00 o’clock in the morning which was presided by the parish priest, Fr. Dionisio Tabiliran. He reiterated that the mass readings were taken from the Pentecost Day Eucharistic Celebration since there is a need for the Holy Spirit intervention who will guide and give wisdom to the facilitators during this time of preparation for the consultation dialogue in order to listen and discern to the experiences shared by the people about the Church in order to journey together to a Synodal Church.

It was also further explained to the congregation that the overview of the Synod on Synodality is summed up into the way of life. Prayers and the blessing of the symbols were undertaken, the offering of flowers to the Blessed Mother and the blessing of the faithful present during the Eucharistic Celebration. The Parish Pre-Synodal Team who will serve as facilitators during the consultation were sent forth which is composed of Parish Priest: Fr. Dionisio Tabiliran, Team Leader: Rolando Tulibao, Team Members: Eleonor Burgos, Jean Noble, Joel Corage, Lina Montilde.

The parish priest of St. Mary of the Perpetual Rosary Parish is hopeful that the parishioners who will be asked to join this journey will cooperate in this endeavor by answering religiously the survey questionnaire. That they will participate in the small focus group discussion and consultation in order to produce parish document which will be submitted to the Archdiocese of Davao Pre-Synodal Team for consolidation.
