JAB at OLLP a success

The Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Bangkal launched the Joint Action alang sa Bakuna (JAB) sa Parokya last 16 October 2021. With the blessing of OLLP Parish Priest Fr. Henry Campeon, OLLP JAB registration was led by Parish Social Action Coordinator Ofelia Bautista and assisted by Thelma Bernasor. Pre-registration was ensured by Ana Norbe, assisted by Alicia Acebedo. Physical set-up ang logistics were handled by Engr. Ruben Sumagang, assisted by Renz Sumagang, on which the neighboring Jesus and Mary Thevenet School (JMTS) was set as the vaccination site. The JMTS, with Mrs. Fe Ceniza as its current Principal, is shepherd by the RJM Sisters.

After the initial registration at the parish, vaccinees were ushered by energetic parish youth volunteers led by Ninnie Bernasor from the church to the JMTS, where they were guided by parish disaster team led by Norjun Bernasor, from the vaccination registration to getting of the vital signs, to medical screening, to actual vaccination, and to post-vaccination.

Inside the JMTS, vaccination proceedings were monitored by ASAC Coordinator Fr. Leonardo “Bong” Dublan, assisted by Sr. Jo Camacho, TDM. Vaccinators were all came from Davao Doctors Hospital led by Dr. Maria Araceli Torrenueva, Asst, Director for Pharmacy and Emergency Department, accompanied by COVID-19 Vaccination Team Chairman Gene Philip Ando and Community Relations Officer Gray Tillo.

“From Davao Doctors Hospital, we are 40 medical practitioners volunteered on today’s JAB sa Parokya in this parish,” ensured by Dr. Torrenueva.

“We, 40 medical practitioners who are here today, have our own respective tasks in today’s JAB,” said Sir Tillo, “we are so grateful for the response of your parishioners.”

“We bring with us 1000 vaccines to be used in today’s JAB to make sure that all parishioners who want be vaccinated will be administered,” confirmed by Sir Ando.

“We make sure that all vaccinators will be taken cared properly, especially their meals, to avoid contamination,” guaranteed by OLLP Parish Priest Fr. Henry Campeon. Their meals were catered by the Our Lady of Lourdes Davao Multipurpose Cooperative (OLLDaMulCo) led by its Manager Leonides “Marlyn” Lallen. Foods were set up for the vaccinators at the JMTS, led by Araceli Alesna Cabudlan.

JAB at OLLP is a joint action effort of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Jesus and Mary Thevenet School, Archdiocese of Davao, Archdiocesan Social Action Center, Local Government of Davao, Barangay Talomo Proper, and Davao Doctors Hospital.

JAB at OLLP was secured by the police deployed by Barangay Talomo Proper. More than 300 parishioners of OLLP were vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccines. The day ended with JAB at OLLP a success. (Vonz M. Hijada, MAT, OLLP SoCCom)
