K of C share their “Hearts” on Valentine’s Day!

In observance of the well-celebrated annual “Araw ng mga Puso”, the KINGHTS of COLUMBUS, St. Paul Council No. 8069, headed this Columbian Year, by Worthy Grand Knight, Felix C. Enriquez, undertook their humble version of “Share-your-Heart-with-the-least-of-HIS-Brethen” affair, held at the residence of PGK Mar Lopez, and very supportive wife – Thelma, at Ecoland-I Subd., Matina, Davao City.

Inspired by that fabulous Quotation: A CHILD is God’s most beautiful GIFT to PARENTS . . . LOLO and LOLA are the Lord’s most wonderful Blessings to CHILDREN – Let us TAKE GOOD CARE of them …!” A hearty Buffet Lunch was thus initiated by Community Services Director – Past Grand Knight Mario N. Lopez, together with his dynamic team members – SK Manuel R. Nierra, SK Edgar M. Rico, SK Silvestre O. Togon, Jr., PGK Dionisio G. Damole, PGK Jovencio Z. Napoles and PGK Rogelio S. Sipalay, and caringly served to a group of Elderly Couples, aged 60 yrs. To 76 years old, complete with plastic box wrapped “I Love You-marked Teddy Bear & Roses”, that were handed to the excited husbands, who in turn, lovingly gave them, with a “Valentine”s Day date” was all about, they said, to the delight of all present, coming from different GKK Chapels under San Pablo Parish, Matina, Davao City.

The Affair started with a chanting Thanksgiving Prayer from one of the invited GKK Chapel PSL (Pangulo sa Liturhiya) from nearby Times Beach area in Matina, and joined by a group of Indigent Children aged 5 to 10 yrs. old who were also served with a nutritiously high-in-Calcium with CGF and Tourine Chocolait Milk drinks. Everybody was gratefully thankful to have experienced a sincere TLC (tender loving care) event, especially the husbands, who they said, had the rare opportunity to have joyfully shared the said special “Lover’s Day” with their spouses and for FREE, compliments of these “Men they call Knights”. Hence, everyone went home happy while carrying their souvenir Gift Prizes. After which the group, led by the Grand Knight, proceeded to distribute some packed-lunch to the also happily-surprised disabled and elderly beggars, as well as, old candle vendors at San Pedro Cathedral area.

The said Activity, actually served as the Community Service Group’s “Opening Salvo” for their planned Year-Long Nutritious Feeding Program-2014, where in a pre-screened group of seemingly malnourished Indigent children will be “Adopted” and will be taken care of, by serving them with a well-balanced healthy Meal, complete with Vitamins, and nutritious Milk drinks, (Vitamins and Milk Companies are hereby invited to “Donate” their products and be valuable “Partners-in-Service” to this noble cause) for at least 2 months, to initially start during the coming School-Summer-vacation, and be closely monitored, after a free Medical Check-up, to include “deworming” if needed, to be headed by the Councils Medical Services Chairman, Dr. Amador Villanueva, and his Doctor-Volunteers group, to determine how more effectively the said Feeding Program could be undertaken throughout the year.

The said “KNIGHTS-in-ACTION” Community Services Group, has already undertaken various Humanitarian Projects, which included a Healthy Bone Check-up for the San Pablo Parish Senior Citizen’s Club and other Parishioners, in coordination with ANLENE, during their Osteoporosis Awareness Program; Free Medical and Dental Clinics and Blood-letting Activity, in coordination with the San Pablo Parish Social Action group;  and sent Donations to the Yolanda Victims, in quick-response to the urgent Appeal for Health from concerned San Pablo Parish Priest, Very Rev. Bishop George Rimando, among others. And with the continue full support of the Council Officers and Members, not to mention the untiring Spiritual Guidance of Chaplin Rev. Fr. Richie Gamaya, the Group looks forward to undertake more worthwhile Charitable/Socio-Civic projects, thru this Year’s Theme of “BUILDING A HEALTHY WORLD”,  in line with their COLUMBIAN International Motto –“In Service to One, In Service to All!”
