Pandemic for Conversion: A Call to Evangelization
“[The pandemic] is an opportunity for conversion… and we have the chance to begin. So, let’s not let it slip from us, and let’s move ahead.” – Pope Francis, 2020. (The Tablet)
In these trying times, where we are all challenged physically, mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually – we are called to be more faithful, challenging us to be the catalysts of faith, hope, and love. To evangelize and spread the Good News through social media and to broadcast live streams during parish events and liturgical celebrations, are few of the inspirations of establishing the ARKANGHEL: The official Social Media Platform of San Miguel Parish-Panacan. Initiated by the Parish Youth Apostolate (PYA) and SoCCom of the parish, its inspiration derives from the virtues of the three archangels of the Roman Catholic Church – St. Michael (protector against the attacks of the enemies), St. Raphael (healer to those who are in depth of darkness), and St. Gabriel (herald of Good News).
Upholding the theme: “Spread good vibes, spread God’s vibes,” Arkanghel evangelizes and spreads the Good News through social media. Aside from the live streaming of San Miguel Parish’s Liturgical Celebrations, Arkanghel has its three main segments for their podcast aired every Sunday at 2:00PM. First, is Faithbook (Katolikong Pagtulon-an, Atong Puy-an), which mainly discusses the Catholic Teachings and Doctrines, the application of faith in our daily lives, and the sharing of faith experiences of the parishioners. Second is ThinkTalk (Katilingabanong Kalihukan, Atong Istoryahan), in which discussion revolves around the contextualization of the GKK/GSLs; and the life, functions, and activities of the different ministries in the parish. And lastly, Youthtube (Dasig Batan-on, Tingog Palanugon), which is a segment for a Sunday chikahan in the lens of Generation Z featuring real-life talks. These segments mentioned for the podcast establish an official online and virtual connection of San Miguel Parish-Panacan to the online world, imparting holistic learnings about the different aspects of life.
But wait, there’s more! For the parish events and liturgical celebrations, everyone is invited to witness and participate virtually as the Arkanghel unfolds live streams. The schedule is always available at the Arkanghel Facebook page’s pinned post (Arkanghel – San Miguel Parish Panacan). Projecting announcements, updates, and daily reflections for the benefit of all the parish’s brethren. (Ma. Joneila Laruya)
