ACCRCD observes protocol as they resume gathering

Charismatic Renewal has become a household word in the Church. Since it is a movement in the Catholic Church, these communities are called Catholic Charismatic Renewal. The Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) is now a recognized association known as the ICCRS (International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services), one of the ecclesial movements of the Roman Catholic Church.

In the Archdiocese of Davao, the Archdiocesan Catholic Charismatic Renewal Communities of Davao (ACCRCD) remains active in its work related to faith-development and Church ministry particularly in parishes with renewal communities. The group promotes spiritual life and service in society through active participation in parish programs, liturgy and participation in social action and moral recovery programs in the Archdiocese and in the Parish level.

ACCRCD is composed of Parochial, Trans-Parochial, and Covenanted Communities that are regularly and actively attending in a once a month Praise and Worship and fellowship every third Sunday of the month at Christ the King Formation Center in Bago Aplaya, Seaside, Talomo, Davao City. However, when lockdown was declared last March 2020 and with the implementation of health safety protocols, they were compelled to cease from their activity since mass gathering is prohibited.

According to Antonio P. Genzon, ACCRCD Council Coordinator, since last March, they have resumed their third Sunday gathering at Christ the King since the government lessen the restrictions, but still they do and observe strictly the health protocols requirement. “Bisan ug dunay pandemic, among gihimo gihapon karon ang pagpangandam aron saulogon uban sa tibuok Simbahan ang Solemnity of the Pentecost Sunday. Adunay gihimo nga Virtual Novena to the Holy Spirit synchronized sa tanang mga katilingban nga Catholic Charismatic sa tibuok Archdiocese,” Genzon said.

The Virtual Novena started last May 14, 2021 at 8:00 o’clock in the evening and will end on May 22, 2021. On May 23, 2021, all communities who are members of ACCRCD are invited to join the celebration of Pentecost Sunday at Christ the King Center. The details of the program are the following:

7 – 8 AM – Registration and arrivals of community members
8 – 9:30 AM – Praise and worship led by the Assumption Parish
9:30 – 10:30 AM – Holy Mass by Rev. Fr. Marbendear L. Morallas, DCD (ACCRCD Spiritual Director)
10:30 – 12 NN – Talk/Sharing by Rev. Fr. Roy Hussain, MLCC

Genzon said that they have created committees to strictly follow and observe the health safety protocols of IATF and of the City government. The attendance of members ages 15 years old and below and 66 years old and above is prohibited as part of the safety protocols. They have all the necessary instruments that ensures safety such as: thermal scanner and QR code scanner. They also provide alcohol and sanitizing gel with ample amounts of water for washing. Social distancing is also strictly observed.
