Launching & Ceremonial Release of Tinubdan Coffee Table Book

Today, we are blessed to be given the chance to inform our community on the Launching & release of Tinubdan Coffee Table Book.

It was during the Parish Day on March 2017 when parish collaborators conceptualized the use of the term Tinubdan for the socio-cultural presentations as fund-raising activities of our parish. It was an attempt to know the origin of Mindanao through the selected six tribes that originated in this so-called land of promise.

Several months after the Dinner for a Cause entitled Tinubdan, on the 19th parochial fiesta of our parish, the Parish Pastoral Team abstracted a coffee table book with the same title, but this time, it is not just to feature the tribes of Mindanao, but equally important is to know the birth of Roman Catholicism in this part of Southern Mindanao known as Barangay Catalunan Grande. The team realized that it is only in knowing our origin and the history of our different Gagmayng Kristohanong Katilingban or GKK that we can be directed towards our future as one Eucharistic Community.

As a member of the editorial board, it was a blessing to be able to visit the 38 GKKs of our parish. Each GKK had its unique culture and ways of making the Catholic faith alive and practiced in their community. But the common denominator observed among the 38 GKKs was the life-giving spirit and strong desire of all its GSLs and members to come together in order to pray, to celebrate the gift of faith, and to make Jesus Christ known and loved by many. No matter how big or small the community was, how strong or dilapidated the GKK chapel was, how united or separated the GSLs were, the truth remained — that each one has been gifted with the faith in Jesus Christ and his Church, and each was ready to give or share this gift to others in his or her own Gagmayng Kristohanong Katilingban.
