Divine Mercy Sunday
The fruits of our Holy Week celebrations must continue to be lived concretely in our daily lives. The Mercy of God that we commemorate during the Holy Week, especially during the sacred paschal triduum need not only be felt during those days but throughout the year.
That is why after St. Faustina Kowalska, whom St. Pope John Paul II canonized on April 30, 2000, promoted the Divine Mercy, the Congregation for the Divine Worship decreed on May 23, 2000 that, “throughout the world, the second Sunday of Easter will receive the name Divine Mercy Sunday, a perennial invitation to the Christian world to face, with confidence in divine benevolence, the difficulties and trials that humankind will experience in the years to come.”
Indeed, we must see the goodness of the Lord during this time of the pandemic. Despite the difficulties that humankind encountered due to COVID-19, we must remain grateful and confident in the loving hands of God in leading us to green pastures of life.
May Jesus who is the King of Mercy always have mercy on us!
