Living the Easter Joy
You might ask how can we rejoice this Easter as we face the reality of the pandemic. In the midst of people losing their loved one due to COVID-19, of businesses in bankruptcy, and of limited mobility, how can we rejoice?
Christians cannot find that joy in passing and ephemeral things. “Fraternal love increases our capacity for joy, since it makes us capable of rejoicing in the good of others”. (GE 128) Instead of counting the many deprivations and negativities that are observable, why not see the good side of this situation. Instead of always complaining against the move of the different agencies for the protection and the good of society, why not look after the benefit of others by sacrificing what we want. Instead of rejecting and criticizing others apostolate hard work, why cannot we try to cooperate and work as one.
Fraternal love is the force that leads to extend food to the hungry neighbor, assistance to a friend who gets sick, affirmation and support to the depressed and have lost hope. It is by searching for them and taking action that we can live the joy of Easter.
Happy Easter to all!
