Society of Divine Vocations receives three new members

The Society of Divine Vocations (SDV) received its new full-fledged members through the rite of Perpetual Profession of Vows.

During a ceremony held, January 18 inside their chapel in Catalunan Grande, Davao City, three members made their perpetual profession of vows of chastity, poverty and obedience. The rite was presided over by SDV  local superior Fr. Calexto Peligrino and witnessed by SDV priests and the Episcopal Vicar for the Religious Fr. William Larousse, MM.

Fr. Peligrino, in his homily said, the Love of God is seen in the perpetual profession. The readings of the day also speak on the requirement for the three new members as they enter the consecrated life—humility which is symbolized by children.

The three new perpetually professed brothers are the following: Bro. Oliver Maningo, SDV from Kaputian, Samal; Bro. John Villarete, SDV, from Tacurong, Sultan Kudarat, and Bro. Rafael Convicto, SDV from Siargao Island.

Fr. Peligrino told them that the greatest should rank among the most humble and they are considered great in the eyes of God.

He added if one is not called to be humble, everyone might boast themselves in many things saying, “Our humility is our way of going to heaven.”

The local superior of the SDV in Davao said the three should also live a life of simplicity.

During the thanksgiving message, one of the three perpetually professed brothers thanked their formators for forming them for nine years to become part of the congregation. They also thanked their benefactors for their material and spiritual support especially through prayers.

Lastly, they also thanked their parents for giving them as gift to the Church, saying this is the greatest gift they can give to the church for they follow the will of God.
