SJTWP FEATURE: GKK Sr. Sto Niño
“O Lord in the name of Infant Jesus, give us the strength of faith, help us to get through these troubles of life one day at a time.”
An excerpt from a prayer to Sto. Nino in this time of the pandemic where the uncertainties brought by the almost year-old Covid virus and a new strain of virus grappled the nations where people are held captives in the confines of their homes.
This tiny GKK – Sto. Nino in Apo Beach, Santa Cruz took their devotion to the HOLY CHILD in a simple and compliant way. They managed to have the image of the Sto. Nino visit two households a day where a pre-selected family welcomes the image and pray the rosary, the Litany and the Novena to Sto. Nino led by their PSL.
What used to be a grand 9 day novena became one of the most intimate prayers they have for their Patron as they have to do it only with family members and the GKK president who scheduled the visits and facilitates the transfer of the image from one household to the next without breaking the protocols.
They celebrated the feast of their patron by attending the Holy Mass held at the parish church celebrated by Rev Fr. Cris Violon, DCD at 9 AM on January 15th. Fr. Violon highlighted the difference of the people’s view of power which lies on the fame, honor and wealth compared to Jesus’ call to HUMILITY. (Blaze Cantaros | SUGID)
