Fratelli Tutti minimizing solution

In the last Shalom written in December 2020 but intended for January 03, 2021, the title was a general personal comment on Fratelli Tutti as Pope Francis’ solution to the world’s problems by minimizing them through human fraternity and social friendship. I promised to explain this minimizing in the present reflection.

It is everybody’s experience that we can know the nature and extent of a problem, (referred to as TRENDS in Fratelli Tutti), by the way it is presented and described which is normally done through the medium and use of words. In his amazing talent for in-depth analysis of issues trends, Pope Francis points out how “various ideologies … deconstruct” or destroy the origin and meaning of words. He calls this process “the end of historical consciousness” (FT, no. 13) tending to “hinder the development of universal fraternity” (no. 9).

What then is FT minimizing solution?

His advice: … “adoption of a culture of dialogue as a path, mutual cooperation as the code of conduct, reciprocal understanding as the method and standard” (FT, no. 285).
