PWHS now has a Spiritual Director!

“I remember, ang Lola nako ang nagtudlo sa ako to call on the holy souls in Purgatory for help, especially pagpapukaw sayo sa buntag (I remember it was my grandmother who taught me to call on the holy souls in Purgatory for help, especially on being awakened early in the morning).” This was what Fr. Joel Caasi said when six (6) officers of the PWHS-Davao made a courtesy call on him in San Isidro Labrador Parish, Catalunan Grande. Our group can only mutter “Bitaw Father, tinuod na! (How true, Father!). Plus, calling on them and our guardian Angels for a parking space or a timely jeep to avoid being late, and to intercede for our families…..

The interaction was not between people who just met, but of old friends who were having their regular get-together.

Even before PWHS-Davao became a chapter, we have been praying, and have requested formally for a spiritual director from the start. True to his promise, Archbishop Romulo Valles blessed our group an early Christmas gift. With the guidance of Fr. Joel Caasi, we are now assured that this apostolate will conform to the teachings of our catholic Church especially here in Davao City.

Fr. Joca, as he is fondly called, actually researched on PWHS when told of his assignment. He was thankful for the March of Saints book of the Monfort Foundation, and related of a child dressed as a nun in one of the masses he celebrated in a convent, and its positive posts in the internet.
The desire to do more for the holy souls, to set up the March of Saints in all the GKKs in his parish, to give talks on the specific saints whose names these GKKs carry, to be present in PWHS’ monthly 2nd Monday meetings, to plan with us – were as exact words written in the hearts of the PWHSians!
It was grace that we waited, persistently prayed, hoped for an answer, and believed that this work is the LORD’s. GOD never fails.

We are sure the holy souls in Purgatory helped us on this, and that St. Gertrude is still praying – ETERNAL FATHER, WE OFFER YOU THE MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, YOUR SON, IN UNION WITH ALL THE HOLY MASSES SAID THROUGHOUT THE WORLD TODAY, FOR ALL THE HOLY SOULS IN PURGATORY, FOR SINNERS EVERYWHERE, FOR SINNERS IN YOUR UNIVERSAL CHURCH, THOSE IN OUR OWN HOMES, AND WITHIN OUR FAMILIES, AMEN.
