Black Nazarene devotees celebrate 5th anniversary

Last August 16, 2020, the devotees of the miraculous Black Nazarene in DECA Homes Esperanza Tigatto have celebrated their 5th anniversary of the enshrinement of the official replica of the Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno from the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene-Quiapo Church at the Our Lady of Peñafrancia GKK Chapel, DECA Homes Esperanza Tigatto, Buhangin, Davao City. The replica, which was given by the parish priest at that time, Msgr. Clemente Ignacio to the management of 8990 Housing Dev’t Corporation, was enshrined on August 16, 2015 during Mass presided by the Auxillary Bishop of Davao, Msgr. George Rimando.

Coinciding with the feast of St. Roche, the devotees commemorated the anniversary with a Holy Mass presided by Fr. Jemasol Ortiz, parish priest of San Alfonso Maria de Liguori Parish. After the Mass, a simple salo-salo was held. The devotees were blessed to have the opportunity of taking care the official replica of the Nazareno from Quiapo Church, and are very eager to propagate the devotion so that it could reach to all faithful living in Davao City.

The devotees encourage all the faithful to come and visit the Nazareno, currently enshrined at the Our Lady of Peñafrancia GKK Chapel, and join with the devotees and prayer and thanksgiving every Friday, at 3 o’ clock in the afternoon. Likewise they also encourage the faithful to join with them in the celebration of the Holy Mass on the 2nd and last Sunday of the month at 6 o’ clock in the evening.
