Vocation to the priesthood and religious life

editorial Good ShepherdYesterday, in San Pedro Cathedral, Fr. Lope Maria Polinar, AJC and Fr. Eddie Boy Maria Fuentes, AJC, were ordained to the priesthood by Davao Auxiliary Bishop, Most Rev. George B. Rimando, D.D. Last week, there were also ordinations to the priesthood in the Diocese of Tagum. In the coming weeks, the Archdiocese of Davao will witness the ordinations to the priesthood for two new priests.

As we prepare for the month of vocations, this September, it is worthwhile for us to thank the Lord for calling shepherds to tend His flock, shepherds who, in the midst of their weakness, know how to journey with God’s people who need his compassion and strength, especially in times of crisis and difficulty. We thank the parents who, without hesitation, leave their security in sending their children and giving them blessing to answer God’s call to the priesthood and religious life.

It is not easy to undergo years of formation to the priesthood and religious life. It is more difficult to live as true witness of God’s kingdom by being a priest and religious.

May the Blessed Mother, Mary, intercede with us for more vocations.
