Fil-Mission Sunday
As our gratitude to God for the gift of faith, the Mission Society of the Philippines was conceived in 1965. Special remembrance is attributed to foreign missionaries who introduced us the Catholic faith. Thanks to their way of offering their lives in learning our culture and making us imbibe the Christian belief. They taught us to share the gift of faith we have received.
When Saint John Paul II visited the Philippines two times as a Pope, he said that we, Filipinos, are close to his heart. He also challenged us that we may become the missionaries of Asia. That is why the Mission Society of the Philippines is also our way of strengthening our response to this challenge.
In gratitude and in response to these realization and challenge, we need to support our Filipino missionaries who selflessly devote themselves in far away places to draw out Christ from others. Our material, moral and spiritual support can be our own way of participating in our mission to evangelize and be continually evangelized.
May Mary, protectress and intercessor, accompany us in our mission.
