Some Random Thoughts During the Lockdown (Part 2)

  • We may consider this pandemic as a cross – a burden, so to say, but if we offer it to the foot of the CROSS of CHRIST, this cross can become a source of vitality and hope for people whose flames have slowly been extinguished by the present crisis. Every time we become instruments of life, consolation and inspiration for other people, the ‘burden’ we are carrying now can be a blessing.
  • The Lord allows problems and difficulties in our lives to prevent us from becoming complacent. People who are complacent take things for granted. Complacency happens when we become overzealous with what we do and what we are – making us overly contented with our ‘personal progress’ that we can no longer see our faults and weaknesses in the process.
  • When we are burdened with so much pains and hurts and we share them with someone in the family or in the community, a miracle is happening there. Please take note that in every miracle, no matter how simple and trivial it may seem, God is present there.
  • Covid-19 teaches us to return to the fundamentals of life. At times I cannot help but think of how ironic that is that we need to experience a hideous pandemic just to be reminded that life’s foremost priorities are those basics that are at times placed by us in oblivion.
  • This pandemic is an opportune time to be a gift to others. Gifts are meant to be shared, not stored. We cannot just remain in the cozy confines of our homes.
