Some Random Thoughts During the Lockdown
- In every new situation, we may feel alone or in a rather strange condition but in this aloneness – in this being alone God speaks loudly His invitation to follow Him. This new situation, albeit strange, is God’s offering of a new wine and the prerequisite of it is a new wineskin.
- The pandemic exposes the rarely seen corners of our homes now filled with cobwebs, dust and dirt. And so we spend some time spring-cleaning. The pandemic brings to the surface as well some basic life skills that we have unconsciously (or consciously) relegated to the sidelines – frugality, (at times) basic hygiene, temperance, etc.
- We cannot (and should not) magnify our problems as if our eyes are like magnifying glasses – making them appear bigger than they actually are.
- (On the ‘new normal’) We cannot just simply do what we want as we used to do before the pandemic. We must embrace a new way of life and embracing it means embracing a more mature approach to life’s situations and a more generous response to God’s invitation. Covid-19 teaches us to bend and to start again from the vantage point of humility.
- The lockdown brought about by the pandemic is a precious opportunity of learning, unlearning and relearning things. What have we learned, unlearned and relearned during this pandemic? Our answers are very crucial.
- The pandemic becomes a blessing in a sense that it brings us closer to God. I would bluntly say that only an outright arrogant would deny this.
