Hope seen in 2014
Despite the different calamities and tragedies our country experienced this year, hope is still seen in the hearts of the Filipinos. The strong faith and belief of the Filipinos are unbreakable.
From the clash in Zamboanga that displaced 10,000 people and killed civilians and soldiers alike, to the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Bohol destroying historical churches and infrastructures, to the heartbreaking typhoon Yolanda which hit Central Visayas, leaving more than 6000 dead, billions of damaged infrastructures, 20,000 homeless families and the entire country in trauma, Filipinos still see light to survive and to stand firm believing that in every challenge there is a greater and bigger God up there to help.
For this issue Davao Catholic Herald lines up some of the events in 2013.
As we welcome another year, the hope of the filipinos is still present in their mind and in their hearts. Saying goodbye to the year soon to end and hello to the coming year one common aspect filipinos will always have, the four letters word, that always give light to the darkest days of the filipinos, HOPE.
Let us all welcome the coming year with positivity and always remind ourselves that there is always a greater and bigger God and with that we, Filipinos will always hold on to our HOPE–Jesus Christ.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
