Corpus Christi
The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, otherwise known as Corpus Christi, is a liturgical celebration reminding us of the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. This real presence of Christ is that which gives each believer the strength he needs, for Jesus says that, he who eats his flesh and drinks his blood will live forever.
In this time of the pandemic, many of us suffer the deprivation of taking holy communion due to lockdowns and quarantine. Many are hungry of the real presence of Christ by their physical presence and participation in the Holy Mass. But since this is not yet permitted to many parishes in the face of this situation, let our patience be long enough to allow ourselves to avail of modern technology for spiritual communion. Let this hunger for the Body of Christ deepen our devotion to the Eucharist. May we renew our full, conscious and active participation in the Holy Mass as we experience this hunger. May our patience and hope be an expression of our fraternal charity in the face of COVID-19.
Mary, mother of the Eucharist, pray for us!
