Four Preachers and a Healer

The Davao Light of Jesus community once again convened another successful Kerygma Conference, a Catholic inspirational learning event led by lay preacher Bo Sanchez. The event, which was held at the SMX Convention Center of SM Lanang last November 30 and December 01, is the fourth to be held in the city. Kerygma, a Greek word which means proclamation of the gospel, pays a very fitting tribute to the proclamation of 2013 as Year of Faith by the Pontifical Council to promote new evangelization.

The event had four speakers led by Bo Sanchez, a bestselling author of over 30 books, and the publisher of 8 of the widest read inspirational magazines in the Philippines. The conference’s first speaker Jan Silan is a trainer for SM Corporation who also gives regular talks in the National Bilibid Prison. Arun Gogna, the second speaker, is a popular national and international speaker who also happens to be a Christian recording artist as well as a best-selling author. Rounding up the roster is Obet Cabrillas, also a much sought after motivational speaker and lay evangelist both here and abroad.

A concelebrated mass was held on the second day, which also marks the first Sunday of advent. The main celebrant was auxiliary Bishop George Rimando, assisted by San Antonio de Padua parish priest and the visiting priest Fr. Fernando Suarez, the world-renowned healing priest. The mass, followed by a healing session, capped the two-day occasion. More than 3,000 people attended the annual conference.

Incidentally, the Light of Jesus family builds spiritual communities called Feasts globally. Feasts are weekly Catholic prayer gatherings with Holy Mass, lively worship, and series of talks on practical Christian living. In Davao, Feasts are held at 6:00 pm on Saturdays at SMX; 6:00pm on Wednesdays at CAP auditorium; and 9:30 am Sundays at Alexian Brothers Health and Wellness Center.
