IACAT XI Network tightens awareness for human Trafficking

DAVAO CITY– Inter-Agency Council against Trafficking in Persons (IACAT) Region XI Network conducted a Regional Campaign against Human Trafficking last December 12, 2013 at Rizal Park.

Together with the Philippine Inter-Faith Movement against Human Trafficking, Global Impact and some of the Police Officers from the different parts of Region XI, the biggest event so far in advocating the fight against human trafficking was successfully launched anchored by its whole year theme: “Human Trafficking: Alamin at Sugpuin”.

“The only way we can abolish human trafficking is if we educate everybody what human trafficking is and what are the red flag indicators of human trafficking. Our goal for today is just to increase awareness on what is human trafficking.”, stated by Mrs. Barbara Mae Flores, Assistant Regional Prosecutor, citing how awareness can become a vital catalyst of change with regards to their campaign against Human Trafficking.
The campaign, purposely steered in that particular day in line with international day against trafficking in persons, was culminated by a short program on Inter-Faith Prayer Rally and a Flash Mob participated by different Police Officers and under-trainees coming from the different parts of Region XI.

“As police officer and as part of our advocacy, we are very happy to know that the fight against Human Trafficking is not just our job but it is also the duty of every human being. Even though we have a huge number of police officers in our locality, we still need the power of civilian intervention to help us in making this advocacy successful.”, statement from PO1 Junel C. Solteo, one of the Police Officer who took part of the Flash Mob activity.

Other highlight of that one-day event includes a Walk for a Cause around 6 o’clock in the morning partaken by different LGU’s, NGO’s and national government agencies.
