Community Quarantine

It was reported that what helped China able to prevent more deaths due to COVID-19 is their quick response through lockdown and community quarantine as compared to Italy which did not immediately respond seriously to the pandemic.

In the local scene, the Church of Davao led by no less than the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines President and Archbishop of Davao, Romulo G. Valles, D.D. always heeds to the executive order that the respectable Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has released. Both leaders cooperate in protecting their constituents. This is a sign that the Church and government look for the benefit of those under their care.

For many, this situation has caused worry, fear and unease. For some, the order to stay at home in this time of crisis has given the opportunity for the family to bond and reflect together this Lent. For those in medical practice, military, government agencies and leaders, this is the time to show their heroism and love of country. As an act of charity, to stay at home is the wisest and best response.
