True Love

True Love editorialTo love is to will the good of the other. This action of the will results in giving up of oneself. This dying to oneself is often the call of our Lord in the Gospels. He wants us to be happy and therefore transcending ourselves is the way to nourish our souls and be happy. God loves to dwell in us and when we participate in this love, we radiate this in deeds to others.

Our homes are the best places to start little acts of love, say, a child decides to wash the dishes in order to make life more pleasant to others. As we allow ourselves to undergo the little constant demands of loving others at home or at school cheerfully, we are also preparing ourselves to the more serious giving of oneself later on in life. Laziness and lukewarm-ness have no room in this scenario. It is plain selfishness where we become spiritually impoverished.

Finally, our apostolate, a manifestation of our love of our family, profession or society must be an overflow of our spiritual life centered on God who is love Himself. Let us resolve to gaze at the Blessed Virgin Mary as she has the look of love.
