Feast of the Sto. Niño
Traditionally celebrated every third Sunday of January, the Sinulog Feast of The SANTO NIÑO in Cebu will be held on January 19, 2020.
It is a feast native to the Philippines, which recalls our faith journey from our pagan past into Christianity.
The feast is a devotion to JESUS. It is more than the various-sized, lace-edged cute images dressed in gold, red, green and maroon, all lined up for blessing. And more than its display in a prominent place in the house. And more than the rituals and dancing.
Like all devotions, it is to help us grow in love and service of GOD. Not in purely human efforts, but in a childlike forward-looking trust that GOD is, should/will always be, in control. It is holding on to GOD humbly, and despite the “scoldings”, still faithfully believe that HE alone is totally good and loving.
The Feast of The SANTO NIÑO celebrates the process of our becoming a child-at-heart of GOD — open, truthful, trusting, hopeful.
VIVA SEÑOR STO. NIÑO, VIVA HESUS!
