Year of Ecumenism, IRD, IP

The Archdiocese of Davao has launched the Year of Ecumenism, Inter-religious Dialogue and Indigenous Peoples in a gathering of GSLs or GKK Servant Leaders recently.

The gathering of GKK Servant Leaders held at the Ateneo de Davao University Senior High School Campus in Bangkal, Davao City is also in celebration of the closing of the Year of the Youth, celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Archdiocese of Davao and the launching of its 75th anniversary on 2024.

Archbishop Romulo G. Valles led the launching together with different personalities from the Muslims and Protestants namely Aleem Mahmod Adilao, Ustadz Mohammad Taha Ainin and protestant pastor Haniel Taganas.

Fr. Joel Tabora, SJ, president of Ateneo de Davao also graced the celebration where he also received a plaque of appreciation for helping in making the event possible.

The archbishop has thanked them for participating in the launching of the Year of Ecumenism, Interreligious Dialogue and Indigenous Peoples.

The Archdiocesan Center for Ecumenical and Interreligious Dialogue (ACEID), being the pastoral agency of the archdiocese together with the Indigenous People’s Apostolate will be taking the lead in the year-long celebration which is set by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

CBCP has lined up every year as preparation for the 500th year of Christianity in the Philippines in 2021. The official logo was also released last September.

During the launching, different pastoral agencies and organizations have also shared about their various apostolates to inform the more than 6,000 GSLs coming from the different parishes of the Archdiocese of Davao.

The archbishop has lauded the GSLs for their active involvement in the life of the Church, telling them that Catholics have their faith as their treasure.

He added that for 70 years, the Archdiocese of Davao has kept this faith since the time of the missionaries until today with the bishop, the successor of the apostles taking the lead.
