Davao Archdiocese launches 75th diamond jubilee celebration
The Archdiocese of Davao has launched the preparations for the 75th year as a local Church.
Last December 7, Archbishop of Davao Romulo G. Valles has led the launching of the diamond jubilee during the gathering of GKK Servant Leaders at Ateneo de Davao Senior High School Campus in Bangkal, Davao City.
The archbishop has blessed and lighted the candle bearing the symbol of the celebration of the 75th diamond jubilee of the local church during the Mass he presided over and concelebrated by some members of the clergy.
In his homily, the archbishop has lauded the participation of the GSLs in the celebration.
He said that the local church is led by the bishop who is also called the successor of the apostles, adding that it is a grace to have the pope send a successor to the apostle here in Davao through the late Archbishop Clovis Thibault, PME until today.
He also said that many among the baptized Christians have now become GKK leaders in their communities, and they are all strengthened by their faith in the Lord.
Despite all the trials that they may face, he told the leaders to stay in the Church and stay as a Catholic.
“Pun-i ang inyong kasing-kasing sa damgo sa Paraiso nga ihatag kanato,” the archbishop said.
