Mati Bishop ordains 42nd Diocesan Priest

The Diocese of Mati welcomes its 42nd diocesan priest after the solemn ordination by Bp. Abel Apigo on Oct. 28, 2019, at the Immaculate Conception Parish, Baganga, Davao Oriental, with the theme “You did not choose me, I chose you”.

In his homily, Bp. Abel Apigo said he felt nostalgic because it was also his theme in his priestly ordination twenty five years ago.

Upon his ordination, Fr. Donie M. Emuy now becomes a gift to the church and to the people.

“I am also happy that I will be able to share my own gift, the fullness of my priesthood to Fr. Donie. The challenge for him now is to go, and bear fruit that will last,” he emphasized.

On a personal note, Bp. Apigo expressed happiness that as a new bishop, Fr. Emuy is the first priest that he will ordain, and Fr. Emuy was chosen, consecrated to fulfill his mission.

Fr. Donie M. Emuy was also ecstatic with the fulfillment of his dream.

“As Bishop said, I am now a gift to the church. Another challenge that I am facing now is how to sustain the giftedness, and how to remain loyal to God’s graces,” he furthered.

The parents of Fr. Donie, Mr. Conrado Enrique Emuy and Delia Agbong Masisay, is happy that their son heeded to his calling, to his vocation. And as such, all that their son needs now is support and prayer.

Fr. Donie M. Emuy also happily accepted his assignment in San Ignacio de Loyola Parish, in Brgy. Luzon, Gov. Generoso.

He already offered two thanksgiving masses on Oct. 28, 2019 at the Immaculate Conception Parish at 3:00 pm, just a few hours after his ordination, and on Nov. 4. 2019 at GKK San Isidro Labrador Chapel, Sitio Bitoon, Brgy. Mahan-ub, Baganga.

Baganga now takes pride of producing four priests, Fr. Enrique Dongiapo, Fr. Philip Dimalanta, Fr. Jay Ramos, and Fr. Donie M. Emuy.

Emuy’s high school and college classmates witnessed the momentous event, with some local officials. (Neela Duallo)
