BEC in the Diocese of Mati

The BEC Coordinators from the nineteen (19) parishes in the Diocese of Mati met at San Isidro Labrador Parish in Banay-banay, Davao Oriental on August 16, 2019. Rev. Fr. Edito S. Baño, the parish priest of San Isidro Labrador Parish and the BEC Director in the Diocese of Mati was glad to welcome the coordinators for it was the first quarterly BEC Coordinators Meeting under his directorship this year 2019. The coordinators were attentive to listen to more information from the director to be unified in the implementation of the objectives in administering the BEC program and activities so as to deepen the Spirituality of the leaders and members thus realizing that GKK is their new way of life.

The Diocesan Pastoral Director, Rev. Fr. Medardo Salomia attended the meeting bringing the intention of Coordinative Meeting with the BEC Coordinators to have coordination with other apostolates’ program and activities to practice the support system.

Before the scheduled meeting the coordinators were instructed by the BEC Director to revisit the BEC History: its growth, challenges and personal reflections as GKK leaders being Mission Partners of the Church in spreading the GKK Vision and Mission. There is a need to update on CBCP-BEC Program to journey in the GKK as the new way of life not only for the leaders but for the GKK members as well. Rev. Fr. Edito S. Baño announced the delegates to the BEC National Assembly at Apo View Hotel in Davao City on November 11-14, 2019. They will be headed by Most Rev. Bp. Abel Apigo, D.D. Bishop of the Diocese of Mati with Rev. Fr. Edito S. Baño, BEC Director, Rev. Fr. Medardo Salomia, Pastoral Director, and Sr. Bing Gorospe BEC Secretary. The Parish Coordinators are as follows: Mrs. Erlinda S. Mahumot; Mrs. Francisca Palma Gil; Mrs. Florentina Magpusao; Mr. Angelo Cabrera, Sr.; Mrs. Emmanuel Morales; Mr. Noel Galigao; Mr. Felipe Cañas Jr.; and Mr. Cherubin Navarro.

They have the opportunity to participate on the journey of the BEC Program in the Philippines. Such Program will be disseminated to the GKK leaders in the diocese for there is a plan to hold a second Diocesan Congress sometime in May. Finalization of the plan will be on December 13, 2019 with the hope that God will bless such plan into reality.
