OLLP Formation Ministry Head Recollection, Team Building
We have heard it said, “Coming together is the beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success!”
Thirty-two formators from the teams of Evangelization, Parish Bible Apostolate, Basic Liturgy, GKK/Fiesta Orientation, and Spirituality of Stewardship convened at one of the in-land resorts in the City of Davao for a recollection, team building, and bonding last October 12, 2019.
With the formators was the recollection master and facilitator, Rev. Fr. Leonie H. Espana, Parish Priest of the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Bangkal and Episcopal Vicar for the Clergy of the Archdiocese of Davao, whose primary goal is to reorient formators on the basic service role and to recharge physical, mental, and a great chance for spiritual rebuilding.
Fr. Espana, in his talk emphasized the importance of knowing the family dynamics / human perception, to learn the value to relate to each other in spite of personality differences, and to cultivate the attitude of servanthood and humility same as Jesus Christ.
Sis. Julia Garciano, Formation Ministry Coordinator expressed her thanks for the opportunity to refresh. It was a wonderful experience to listen to the Word of God while reflecting on the lecture given to us by our parish priest, and recollection master, Fr. Leonie Espana. The structured learning activities made us realize the importance of working as a team, planning going beyond the traditional, and the skill to really listen and communicate well.
The day was capped with bonding activities and getting to know more of each other which made everyone happy and at ease with one another. We wish for more activities like this in the future, Sis. Julia added.
Bro. Nestor D. Fruto, PPC Lay Coordinator and Coordinator of Spirituality of Stewardship Team in an interview said, “Noteworthy are the mix of members of the ministry, it is a representation of the youth, those in their middle age, and retirees some in their 70s who volunteered as formators.” What benefit the formation ministry can derive perhaps and offer, are the millennial experience of the youth, the availability of those in their productive years in terms of time and treasure, and the wisdom filled experiences in life that the retirees can share to the ministry.
The directive of Fr. Espana, to hold the activity was successfully implemented through the support of team coordinators, the strong coordination of Sis. Violeta Umbay, Formation Ministry Secretary and Coordinator of Evangelization Team with Ana Norbe, Pastoral Coordinator and lead member of Basic Liturgy Team, and Ritchie Reyes, Evangelization Team member who handled the registration.
“Two are better than one: they get a good wage for their labor. If the one falls, the other will lift up his companion.” – Ecclesiastes 4:9
