Halad Pasalamat: A Stewardship Program of St. Francis Parish, Maa
“San Francisco de Assisi: Sumbanan sa Pagkamaayong Pinayalan.” This is the theme of this year’s fiesta of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Maa.
Being a good steward, St. Francis of Assisi is our role model for the parish’s Stewardship Program called Halad Pasalamat. It is a social action program to help those people in need.
The dream: 1) To have a sanctuary of less fortunate with feeding center and playground in Barangay New Carmen near the dump site where many children are malnourished and their families are below poverty level. 2) To help deserving school children to continue schooling thru a scholarship program. 3) To give assistance for 21 school catechists to 9 public schools. 4) To visit and assist the prisoners in Maa City Jail.
Film viewing of the Patron saint followed after the novena and pilgrimage masses sponsored by the 12 zones. On September 28, 2019 a fun walk from Maa Barangay Hall to parish and a Zumba session of GKK leaders and the youth were held.
On October 4, at the 6:00 A.M. concelebrated mass presided by the Most Rev. Romulo Valles, D.D., he reminded the people of the humility and poverty of St. Francis. He said that the life of joy in carrying the cross is a preaching enough for the people to encounter the Lord. (Pamela Villa Millabe | SFAP SoCCom)
