Rev. Alfeche is now a priest

A priest from Immaculate Conception Mintal Parish is now ordained to the priesthood.

Fr. Louis Jasper Alfeche has received the sacrament of ordination through the laying on of hands of Archbishop Romulo G. Valles on his head last August 27, the third priestly ordination for the month of August in Davao.

The rite of ordination and Holy Mass were held at Fr. Alfeche’s home parish in Mintal.

In his homily, the archbishop thanked the new priest for his ‘yes’ to the calling to the priesthood, which is considered as a gift.

He added that this is a one of a kind gift which is not of the new priest’s merit but a gift that he will nurture, love and appreciate.

He said that Fr. Alfeche will be the ‘alter Christus’ or the other Christ in the midst of the people.

The archbishop said that their joy cannot be measured for the gift of ordination witnessed by the people in the parish of Mintal.

Archbishop Valles reminded Fr. Alfeche that he should serve like how Christ served saying, “Pangalagad kamo sa style ni Kristo.”

He also added that his ordination is just a beginning for him to deepen his love for Jesus and His people.

The ordination was attended by the clergy of Davao, religious men and women and the family and friends of Fr. Alfeche.

His ordination was preceded by the ordination of Fr. Mark Kim Samones last August 24 and Fr. Ramon Jamora last August 5. The two were also present during Fr. Alfeche’s priestly ordination.
