‘Facelift’ for San Antonio de Padua Parish
For years, this parish in Agdao has been known not for its name but for the school beside it.
Because of this, the parish priest of San Antonio de Padua Parish in Agdao, Fr. Amado Arroyo, wants to make the patron saint known and more prominent even before entering its premises.
Last July 14, Sunday, Fr. Arroyo blessed the facade of the parish gates where a statue of San Antonio de Padua is prominently displayed along with the signage.
It was a facelift of sorts for the parish as before the project to beautify the gates. It has a totally different look—a makeshift office for a rescue team and a mini market to sell commodities.
Today, aside from the image of San Antonio de Padua, potted plants numbering to 52 are also displayed as well as a water fountain.
Fr. Leonie España, former parish priest, lauded Fr. Arroyo’s efforts to beautify the parish during the dinner hosted on the same day as the new parish priest is also celebrating his 52nd birthday.
The blessing and dinner were attended by the parishioners, members of the clergy and some visitors and benefactors who helped in materializing the projects implemented in San Antonio de Padua Parish like the grotto of the Our Lady of Lourdes and the installation of the new image of San Antonio de Padua in the facade of the parish church.
