Kasalan sa Parokya: Initiative of a Caring Eucharistic Community
As a compassionate parish community, the Our Lady of the Assumption Parish initiated the Kasalan sa Parokya as their way to help 77 parishioner couples who are starting to build their own families to take the right path as they receive the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. “We don’t need to give any material things to God, just ourselves and our hearts.” Fr. Hermie Garcia reminded the couples during the Kasalan sa Parokya last June 15, 2019. The Kasalan sa Parokya was just one of the many big events of the Assumption Parish as part of their 60th Parochial Anniversary Celebration. The success of the said event is a team effort of parish organizations spearheaded by the Family & Life Apostolate along with the GKK Servant Leaders and catechists who gave their effort and commitment to gather these couples to receive this Sacrament.
“Through God, he inspired a lot to be generous. Everything you see here doesn’t belong to me but to those people who exerted effort for this occasion as we celebrate our 60th year as a parish where we journey with Mary to give thanks to the Lord.” Fr. Hermie also emphasized those people who gave their time, effort and financial support to be able to come up with this successful event. The grand reception was a fruitful product of various sponsors who wholeheartedly donated for the event to be extra special. The people behind the majestic setup were very much appreciated who endured the tiresome labor of arranging the whole place and continued even after being soaked in rain. God truly inspired these people to be generous with their commitment and dedication for the success of the Kasalan sa Parokya.
“I have a favorite phrase; Gratitude is the memory of the heart. It means our gratitude to God will not fade since it is in our hearts,” Fr. Hermie mentioned this to remind everyone to be always sincerely grateful to God. He hoped that the 77 newly-wed couples prosper as faithful husbands and wives and may the Kasalan sa Parokya be just the beginning of their journey with Mary as they continue to be joyful and grateful members of the community.
