Unaware of the mess we are in?

This mess we are in, meaning the inverted moral values affecting our behavior, can be symbolized by the result of the recent midterm elections. They were voted into office for the wrong reasons. We can conclude by saying that what was wrong before is now right; what was right before is now wrong.

There is no need to cite examples. Many voters and non-voters know. We have become callous. Our moral conscience has not been working. It has been dead for some time.

This terrible mess, morally and politically, should be partly blamed on us the leaders of the Church. We have to say Mea Culpa (through my fault). Why? Because we are responsible for forming the moral conscience, the sense of right and wrong, of the Young and the Old. But what must we do?

My simple answer is the cross… of suffering and dying. We have to oppose the evil of inverted values courageously and relentlessly until the evil in power kill us. How do we do this? What kind of opposition must we present and engage in?

Whatever we decide to do must be the fruit of prayer and reflection as a community. We start small and humble but in secret first. In our reflection and prayer let us use the Holy Bible which will teach us that only values can counteract against values. We must live and witness to new values.
