Katilingban sa Kalinaw Mindanaw: Youth Communicators for Peace
In view of our nation and people’s quest for peace, while it has always been there, the call for peace nowadays has become more urgent. As a response, Communication Foundation for Asia (CFA) conceived a 3-year program on the formation of youth movements for peace in Mindanao, titled “KATILINGBAN SA KALINAW MINDANAW: Youth Communicators for Peace”, in order to broaden a popular constituency for peace among the Filipino Youth. This program aims to espouse and sustain a culture of transformative sharing based on life experiences, peace, equality, and prosperity among the youth of the Lumad tribes, Moro tribes, and Christian communities in Mindanao by using the most relevant and appropriate tools of communication.
KATILINGBAN SA KALINAW will be divided into two training-workshop batches, wherein the first one will be held on April 1 to 5, 2019. One of its main components is to provide avenues and opportunities for the encounter of the youth of the tri-people of Mindanao, Lumad, Moro and Christian. They will also go through a series of media workshops to empower them to express their stories of peace.
CFA and its advocate partners work on the premise that the creative powers and skills of the Moro, Lumad and Christian youth, if combined, can bring about profound changes in Mindanao for the cause of peace, and create a common future.
KATILINGBAN SA KALINAW equips the tri-people of Mindanao, Lumad, Moro and Christian, and their stakeholders with tools of peace-building and organizing through communications technology; and nurtures their passion for peace.
