Not Just a Fiesta but Thanksgiving to Sr. Sto. Niño
Sr. Sto. Niño is the patron of GKK Banganga/Countryville/Dela Pena Village, Barangay Cabantian, Davao City which is under the jurisdiction of St. Mary of the Perpetual Rosary Parish, Buhangin of which we celebrated the fiesta last 15 January 2019 with a theme: “Sr. Sto. Niño: Sumbanan sa mga Batan-on sa Pagkamasunoran sa Amahan”.
This is not just a fiesta celebration but also a thanksgiving offered and honored to Him for all the gifts and blessings we have received. The nine (9) days novena commenced last 06 January, 2019, Sunday and ended last 14 January, 2019, Monday with a procession along Countryville Executive Homes residences passing through Dela Peña Village residences and back to the chapel for the last day of novena.
This spiritual preparation was fervently and evidently achieved and successful due to the strong faith and devotion of the GKK members more particularly the GKK Servant Leaders (GSL). The Eucharistic celebration was presided by Rev. Fr. Rey T. Sabuero, parochial vicar of St. Mary of the Perpetual Rosary Parish at 6:00 o’clock in the morning on 15 January 2019; with his very inspiring and touching homily of which he shared and reminded the faithful members of the GKK that our Christianity and being Catholic started and had a special place of honor of our devotion to Sr. Sto. Niño. Fr. Rey enthused that the attitude of Sr. Sto. Niño that devotees must emulate are the following: being humble, obedient and affectionate and that these should be the inspiration to continue serving the Lord and to others especially to our family, to our GKK, to our parish and to our community as a whole. Our pride, arrogance must not be tolerated because this may become a hindrance of our spiritual service and journey in this world. Our devotion to Sr. Sto. Niño should also help us become missionaries in a simple way. Fr. Rey also mentioned that the crown, cross and globe of Sr. Sto. Niño symbolizes that He is our King; He died on the cross for us and to that we may become a model throughout the world. Lastly, Fr. Rey said that our strong faith and humility like that of the Little Child should help us carry the love that is shining within our family.
Happy feast day! Pit Señor! (Juvie Alcuisar | SMPR-GKK SoCCom)
