Davao Celebrates Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
The 2019 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, January 18-25, has the theme “Justice and only justice, you shall pursue” (Deuteronomy 16; 18-20) and was prepared by Christian churches of Indonesia in collaboration with the World Council of Churches based in Geneva, Switzerland and the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity based in the Vatican.
In a world marked by diversity in language and culture, we express our Christian faith in diverse ways. During this week, we are called to celebrate this diversity and be faithful to Christ’s call for the unity of his Church. All are invited to join with brothers and sisters of various churches in prayer, song and witness to unity as followers of Christ.
After a meeting with Davao City based Protestant Pastors, Catholic Priests and Church lay leaders—both Protestants and Catholics last January 9, 2019 in Assumption Parish Hall, Davao City Fr. Pedro P. Lamata, the Director of the Archdiocesan Center for Ecumenical and Interreligious Dialogue (ACEID) of the Archdiocese of Davao, released this following schedule of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity celebration in Davao City.
