Called to give something back
Woodrow C. Catulong, from the GKK of Christ The King, Kadayawan Homes Phase 2, is one of the ninety nine (99) Pangulo sa Liturhiya (PSL) of The Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Bangkal who were commissioned by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Leonie H. Espana DCD, at 07:30 a.m. mass on Oct. 21, 2018. It’s Bro. Woodrow’s 3rd year in the ministry.
In an informal talk after the commissioning, Bro. Woodrow recalled that even before when he was a little younger, he had this hidden and deepest desire on serving God but doesn’t know how to transpire into action the feeling of wanting to serve Him. One, it is because he is an introvert person, quiet, and a little bit reserved. Until one day, he realized to counter his weariness and indulged himself to reading about faith and a lot of books about Catholicism where his spiritual understanding increases. And above all his adoration and devotion to Virgin Mary expanded beyond comprehension.
To make the story short, one day as he vividly remembers, he attended the 6:00 a.m. mass which he does not usually do. As he is about to go, an announcement posted in the bulletin board caught his attention: a one-week PSL 1 Seminar, that will be held in The Our Lady of Lourdes compound. He is curious but hesitant to join; First, he doesn’t have friends around, second he stayed in Maa that time and just occasionally comes to visit an older sister in Kadayawan and he doesn’t have friends in Kadayawan Housing. So when he went home he asked Erlinda Sios-e, his older sister who is also a PSA in the GKK of Christ The King, what PSL stands for. Erlinda explained and informed him that the GKK needs additional PSL to sustain its ministry, “Nga kung puwede mahimo kong PSL.” There where arguments at first with the how and the why. His curiosity and feelings towards a GKK increasing, the commitment begins and he believed his commitment to serve Christ will grow as the time goes by.
Hope this may help inspire and serve as an eye opener to those who want to serve. “Do not hold back from accepting God’s call to serve Him where your ability and capability can be used for His glory,” he added. (Vinny G. Bajo, OLLP SoCCom)
