Mati awakens to the Month of Vocation
MATI CITY – The month of October ushered in the traditional Vocation month for the Diocese of Mati.
Themed “Vocation: Awakening Hearts to Faith!” – Vocation Month this year was simultaneously launched on October 2, 2013 in all the parishes of the diocese, care of the respective parish priests, to enable a fuller participation by the faithful.
The San Nicolas de Tolentino Cathedral Parish invited Most Rev. Patricio H. Alo, D.D. to preside at the Vocation Launching Mass 5:30 pm, with the special attendance of various religious institutions in the diocese and outside; seminarians; parents of religious priests, brothers, sisters, or seminarians; and the out-of-school youths, fourth year high school students, and young professionals.
Diocesan Vocation Director Fr. Manuel “Mawee” C. Trocio explained the rationale of the theme and the mechanics of the theme-based Logo-making and Song-writing contests by parish level open to all those interested to join, regardless of age and state in life.
DXHM-AM, Heart of Mary station, also set an hour every Saturday and Sunday 4:00-5:00 pm during the month of October for talks on Vocation to be shared in by different religious congregations.
The Culmination as well as the choice of the winning contest entries will be by Vicariate: Oct. 23 for the Vicariate of San Vicente Ferrer (Lupon, Banay-banay, Sigaboy, Bato-bato, Luzon), Oct. 25 for the San Nicolas de Tolentino Vicariate (Cathedral, Calapagan, Dawan, Dahican, Madang), Oct. 29 for the Vicariate of San Salvador del Mundo (Caraga, Manay, San Ignacio, Tarragona), and Oct. 31 for the St. James the Apostle Vicariate (Cateel, Baganga, Boston. Kinablangan, Lambajon).
Fr. Mawee further noted that side-by-side with Vocation Month, the month of October would also be covering other important Church activites related to the month of the Holy Rosary, the missions, the indigenous peoples (IP), and the prison apostolate.
