Two deacons ordained in Kidapawan
KIDAPAWAN CITY — In the almost cloudless afternoon heat, while some were having their siesta lull, a crowd of family and friends gathered in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Diocesan Seminary Chapel here to witness the rite of ordination of two young men.
To the diaconate, the ceremony was solemn but was interrupted when the clock hit 3:58 PM as the power went off when the litany of saints was sung and the two seminarians were lying prostrate as symbol of their oblation. Power went back after a couple of minutes.
“Do the will of God generously,” said Bishop of Kidapawan Jose Collin Bagaforo to newly-ordained deacons Rev. Brian Asumbrado and Rev. Dave Bao last September 29.
He told them that their life should be in dedication and total service to God’s people through their celibacy.
He added that the deacons should also dedicate their lives in constant prayer.
“Serve God and mankind with love and joy,” Bp. Bagaforo said to the two.
They have chosen “Do whatever he tells you” as their theme for their ordination.
The two deacons finished their theological studies at St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary of Mindanao in Catalunan Grande, Davao City.
The two deacons expressed their gratitude to the people who have helped them in their journey towards priesthood.
They will be assigned in the different parishes in the Diocese to give them ample time and experience on the life of the community.
