Padre Pio visits Davao: Saint’s incorruptible heart stays for four days in the city
The incorruptible heart of Padre Pio is set to visit Davao City for four days.
From October 14-17, devotees and other Catholics will have the opportunity to venerate the relic in different sites in the city.
On October 14, the relic will arrive in the airport at 10:00 am and will have a motorcade going to the Ateneo de Davao Matina Campus for a Eucharistic celebration. Public veneration will start at 1:00 pm.
A conference will also be set to explain the life of Saint Padre Pio who was born on May 25, 1887. He is known for carrying the stigmata, the wounds of Christ. He is also known for appearing in different places at one time or bilocation.
He died on September 23, 1968 and was proclaimed saint June 16, 2002. Devotion to Padre Pio have caused many miracles for many devotees.
A procession from Ateneo going to the San Pedro Cathedral will be held at night wherein a public veneration will also be held at 8:00 pm.
The relic will be staying in the cathedral for a day and it will be transferred to the St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary on the 16th where priests and consecrated persons can venerate him especially in this Year for the Clergy and Consecrated Persons.
It will then return to the cathedral in the afternoon and the veneration will continue.
A Eucharistic celebration on the October 17 will culminate the visit of Padre Pio’s relic at 6:00 am then a motorcade going to the airport will be done at 8:00 am before flying to Batangas.
The saint’s relic will be in the country from October 5 to 26.
