A gathering for faith formation

Leaders and Directors from different diocese in the Philippines gathered a month ago to tackle important matters for the celebration of the national catechetical month. This includes the one common theme of this year’s celebration: “Fidelity to the Gospel, Fidelity to Christ”.

“Fidelity to the Gospel, Fidelity to Christ. Katekista: Matuohon, Masangyawun ug Mabungahon” is the theme for this year’s national catechetical month celebration organized by the Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) in coordination with the Episcopal Commission and Catecheses and Catholic Education.

Under the celebration of the year of faith, this annual archdiocesan activity is a gathering of all the catechists and evangelizers. The whole country celebrates September as catechetical month.

“The objective of this activity is an annual ongoing formation of the catechists, spiritual nourishment, and faith formation, bonding with other parishes and sharing of blessings” Davao City Archdiocesan Catechist Coordinator Jing Saniel said.

The event will be attended by more than 3000 catechists and evangelizers coming from 36 parishes around the archdiocese of Davao.

San Pablo Parish Head Catechist Jhenly Candia added that this event will revitalize the faith of the catechists. She also stated that this one day celebration would include the
Holy Eucharistic Mass, Catechetical inputs and Socio-Cultural presentation.

“Through the Wow Mindanao socio-cultural presentation, participants could also showcase the history of the evangelization of Mindanao” Saniel added.

This big religious event will be held at the Holy Cross of Davao College Gymnasium on the fourth Saturday of the month, September 28. (HCDC Masscom Interns)
