Students can sanctify themselves through work
DAVAO CITY—Beyond feeding oneself and buying one’s needs and wants, work can sanctify a believer.
This is according to the Vice President for Academic Affairs of Holy Cross of Davao College, Fr. Russell Bantiles during a talk with on-the-job trainees (OJT) of the College of Business of the said school, an archdiocesan institution.
“Man can sanctify himself and others through his work,” Fr. Bantiles said, adding that work is man’s essential vocation.
Fr. Bantiles told the students who attended the whole day seminar last June 30 which was organized by the school for those who are already in their practicum period.
“For a Christian, work is a participation in God’s work of creation,” he said.
He also added that students who work in the different partner companies of HCDC have made a mark in themselves as they are considered employable due to their discipline in the workplace.
He said that work may be difficult but work has provided them with the same dignity of Christ who became a carpenter like His foster father, Joseph.
He also mentioned St. Josemaria Escriva, who has been the saint who promoted sanctification through one’s work as he enjoins the students to do their best and never settle for mediocrity.
