June 29 is a special holiday in the entire Davao City as this is the celebration of the feast of the patron saint of the entire Archdiocese, St. Peter.

This year, the Archdiocese of Davao marks the 170th parochial fiesta of the Metropolitan Cathedral and the 38th anniversary of the dedication of the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Pedro.

Reflecting on the theme, “Panig-ingnan sa mga Nabag-ong Alagad sa Pangsangyaw sa Maayong Balita,” the fiesta celebration began with the pilgrimage of the image of San Pedro in the different Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKK) and Novena Masses at the cathedral.

On the day before the fiesta, June 28, Archbishop of Davao Romulo G. Valles officiated the Holy Eucharist to commemorate the 38th Dedication of the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Pedro wherein different families lighted the candles of the pillars of the cathedral.

On the fiesta day, the archbishop also presided over the Pontifical Mass at 8:00 AM. Other bishops and priests also celebrated their respective masses during the entire day.

Aside from Liturgical celebrations, the cathedral also hosted a medical/dental check-up in the morning of June 23 followed by the Socio-Cultural Night. They also have free eye check-up and bloodletting on June 24.
