PART II “We walk by faith, not by sight”

Excerpt from Archbishop Romulo G. Valles’ homily during the 46TH Parochial Fiesta of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Parish last June 17, 2018 @ Bajada, Davao City.

If we come to this Church, not really convinced that we need help. Nah, unsa ma’y pulos ani atong devotion? First thought is, to have, to be given the grace to see ourselves more clearly that indeed we need help, we need God’s grace, we need the Lord’s strength and we need the Lord’s mercy and compassion. Perhaps, we come to present our needs and that’s alright, the way we see ourselves as needy… but perhaps, there are other needs, kahimtang sa kinabuhi nga wala ta kabantay… and maybe more important needs and important things to do… that we include as we venerate Inahan sa Kanunany’ng Panabang to be given the grace to see the needs that we do not see for ourselves.

We are courageous because we walk by faith, not by sight… walking by faith gives us special eyesight, special way of looking at things, many times we cannot figure out where the direction is by walking in faith. And for this, we come to this Church to ask our Blessed Mother to comfort us, to encourage us, to keep the faith and walking by faith.
