Deepening our devotion to the Blessed Mother Mary
Excerpt from Archbishop Romulo G. Valles’ homily during the Culminating Mass of the 11th Marian Congress and Marian Procession at San Pedro Cathedral, Davao City last May 26, 2018.
We’ve been doing this for many years and this has become a beautiful not just a custom but beginning to be a beautiful tradition. And I hope it will continue on and on in the years to come and let us ask our Lord and the Blessed Mother to bless us as we manifest publicly our faith in the City of Davao through our devotion to the Blessed Mother.
It is a devotion but do not forget our veneration, our love for our blessed Mother is part of our Creed. Do not forget to recite your creed: “…I believe in Jesus Christ born of the Virgin Mary”. If you do not believe in the creed fully, kung medyo laktawan nimo ang Blessed Virgin Mary, hilaw ka na Katoliko.
We are born to recognize and believe in the role of Mary in the history of salvation, that’s part of our doctrine and we nicely describe it as may debosyong kita.
Our Faith is described as a very Marian faith, in a sense that we cannot articulate our faith without including the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Klaro pag-ayo, since the early Church, ang pagmahal ug pagpangga ug paghatag sa angayan nga luna sa presenya sa Mahal nga Birhen sa atong kinabuhi, atong pagtoo, kailangan gyud atong pakusgon ug palawmon.
