Maks and Mars in Tagakpan
The Renewal of Service Commitment and General Assembly of the Altar Servers and Offertory Collectors/Gift Bearers (Marellos and Marellets a.k.a Maks and Mars) were held at San Francisco de Asis Parish last Saturday, April 21. It was participated by approximately 500 Maks and Mars from different GKKs in the parish.
The whole day event started with a Eucharistic celebration presided by Rev. Fr. Peter Fancubila, OSJ, the parish priest of San Francisco de Asis Parish. Father Peter stressed the importance of serving the Lord wholeheartedly, especially in the GKK. Furthermore, he also expressed his happiness for the enthusiasm that the Marellos and Marellets have shown as they participate in various activities of the parish. Before the mass ended, the Maks and Mars renewed their service commitment in front of the altar, attested by the Parish Priest.
After the mass, the Marellos and Marelletes listened and actively participated in a lecture-discussion that was given by the Oblates of Saint Joseph Postulants namely Bro. Post Jim Brent Lacdao, Bro. Post. Ivan Euleses V. Obeal, Bro. Post. Kenneth G. Bautista, and Bro. Post Ehlysohl D. Elefante.
The knowledge of the Maks and Mars were enriched and refreshed regarding the proper decorum of servers during Eucharistic celebrations, basic knowledge on the liturgical calendar, vestments, and all other necessary information that a typical altar server must know.
In the afternoon, the Maks and Mars were able to build unity and sportsmanship through and by means of various team building activities. The games really challenged them, and developed camaraderie towards their fellow servers.
The day ended happily with the smiles on the Maks and Mars faces. They learned a lot from the lectures, and at the same time, enjoyed the group dynamics. Indeed, there is really fulfillment and happiness in serving the Lord.
MAKS and MARS was inspired by St. Joseph Marello, the founder of the Oblates of Saint Joseph whose patron saint is St. Joseph. (Abigail C. Cervas)
